2019 Cycling Resolutions

Posted by Bike Attack on Jan 10th 2019

Welcome to 2019!

One of your new year's resolutions should be to be healthier and more active than ever before! Let's get specific. We've got some detailed suggestions for all you cyclists out there on how to up your 2019 cycling game. Let's ride!

Learn Bike Maintenance

Know how to do the basics, doing so will save you precious time and money. A good bike mechanic will keep your ride in tip top shape for all the major fixes. A good bike is an investment - basic maintenance at home in the meantime will benefit for years. Youtube is a great resource.

Set a Mileage Goal

How many miles did you cycle last year? Try setting a realistic mileage goal that will challenge you. Calculate how many miles you cycle each week and see if you can beat that by 1.5x. Do this long enough and you will reach your goals!

Power Up

Climb more hills, strength train, increase your speed and distance. Any increase counts. Leg day jokes aside, working out your lower body will increase your core strength. Make each movement count.

Cycle with a Group

Bike Attack has a weekly Saturday and Sunday cycling group at 8am for anyone with a great attitude and a desire to cycle. Meet at Bike Attack Playa Vista adjacent Whole Foods, Los Angeles, CA 90094 . Call (310) 862-5001 for details!  If you're not in the LA area for our group, search out a local cycling group. It's a great way to connect with like minded people in your community!

Try an Upgrade

If you're a traditional cyclist, take a test ride on an electric bike. If you already have an e-bike, test ride one of the 2019 models. If you absolutely by principle will not ride an e-bike, test ride a 2019 model manual bike. Every single year, bicycle manufacturers improve their craft. Lighter, faster, easier to handle, more comfortable... so many new features. See for yourself what the newest models have to offer.

Commute

If you work relatively close to where you live and have never biked to work, pick out a nice spring day and try it out. If your place of work is a 40 minute drive away commuting by bike isn't realistic. Instead, we suggest running errands by bike. One less trip taken by bike instead of car counts as exercise as well as doing a day's worth of helping to save the planet.

Ride safe and smart, beautiful people. We're looking forward to a great 2019!!
