A racing evolution

The high-performance discipline of cross-country racing has become, quite literally, a race to the top. Grueling, all-out sprints to the finish are supported with bikes whose maximum efficiency and minimum weight ethos pay no heed to compliance – until now. The BMC Teamelite 03 is the culmination of an evolution of race bike performance. Its unique combination of efficiency, traction, and fatigue-fighting compliance technology places it in a category of its very own, and raises the bar by setting new industry standards.

BWC-Big Wheel Concept

Agility & stability - Purposeful geometry and cockpit design mean BMC's 29" bikes are nimbl, stable and incrediblt efficient.

More than big wheels

It takes a lot more than just adding bigger wheels to fully capture the benefits of the 29er. And for that reason, the transition to bigger wheels has, for many brands, proven incredibly difficult. But BMC's progressive Big Wheel Concept created a totally new way of thinking, from axle to axle, and has set them apart from the rest. More control, more comfort, more confidence and a whole lot more speed, the 29er and BWC are the past, present and future of big wheels.

Big Wheel Concept is much more involved than a wheel diameter; it’s a philosophy, a mindset, a strategic approach to geometry and handling characteristics to make 29er bikes ride intuitively. When the transition to 29” wheels started catching fire, their engineers realized quickly that the entire bike, from handlebar to rear triangle, had to be redesigned and re-evaluated. The end result is a multi-faceted approach: position the rider in an ideal space for traction and control, create the perfect cockpit for confidence, and rethink geometry until the bike is fast, fearless and nimble.

Greater agility

Perfect chainstay length, maximum bottom bracket drop and a short stem all create a bike stem all create a bike atat works with the rider, not against them.

Increased stability

With a larger contact patch, 29" wheels are known for stability and predictability -  BMC takes things further with a purposeful geometry and cockpit.

Specific geometry designs to compliment big wheels means awesome rider control

Keep it rolling - 29er wheels roll fast up or down

Nimble handling

Stay confident, fast and maneurvable in the tight stuff

Hydroformed, triple-butted, Al-13 premium aluminum makes the frame light and stiff, with additional compliance and comfort provided by the lowered seat stay and Angle Compliance Technology. To excel on XC courses, the Teamelite 03 shares the same race-oriented Big Wheel Concept (BWC) geometry as the other Teamelite family members.

The frame geometry is built according to BMC's BWC geometry, which features a long a roomy top tube, a low bottom bracket and short chainstays. Combined with a slack head tube angle and short stem, riders get the speed, agility and snappy acceleration required in a 29er race bike.
