It is also a terrific activity to enjoy together with friends and loved ones. The activity requires little investment after the bike and can be done all across the world. If you want to make mountain biking a part of your life, there are a few simple mountain biking tips which can make it even more enjoyable.

5 Tips to Better Enjoy Mountain biking

Begin by taking the time to improve your mountain biking skills. Doing too much too soon can cause injury and frustration. If you have spent the last decade pedaling across mostly flat pavement, it is probably not a good idea to book a 40-mile cross country ride your first day out. Work to improve more than just your endurance, improve your cornering skills and be conscious of your body position to prevent injuries and soreness. Work out regularly, cross training is very good to improve your fitness like running, walking or swimming even on non-biking days to stay in shape.

Secondly, know where you are going and the type of terrain to expect. If you are unfamiliar with the area where you are going, check local bike blogs, call the Chamber of Commerce office or best contact bike shops in the area. If a terrain is more than you or someone you are with are capable of handling, it could discourage you to ride again. A good tip is also not to bike alone, always bring a friend to avoid being stuck alone in the wilderness without help, just in case you have a technical problem with the bike or you crash.

Next, know the weather forecast and have the correct gear. Make sure your bike is in excellent condition. Prior to the ride bring it to your local bike shop and have them do a tune up. After the ride check the bike yourself or bring it to the bike shop at least after every other long ride. Use your helmet and gloves, dress in layers, have extra socks in case your feet get wet, and always have water or know where a fresh water source is. Carry safety gear like a trail map, compass and first aid kit. Something as simple as a blister can ruin the day if you lack a band aid.

Fourth, do not bike the same trail every time. It is nice to know every bump and twist along the way, but there is something to be said for new scenery and challenges. Keep your rides interesting by finding out what other trails there are near you.

Finally, never stop learning. Go to races, meet advanced riders and learn their tips. Join a local bike group. Most bike shops provide a group ride. Ride frequently, because the better you get, the more you will take on. This means find a new trail, sign up for a race and travel to new places. It will keep everything fresh and will keep you in top physical condition.
